2001 Alumnus of the Year Award

The College of Health Professions honored Mr. Rolf Kuhns, 2001 recipient of the Alumnus of the Year Award.  Mr. Kuhns received his Physical Therapy degree from the University of Florida in 1972.  Following graduation he worked with Peter Lord, PT, in a physical therapy private practice setting in Lake City and later in a private practice in Orlando.  Mr. Kuhns has been successful in establishing on-going relationships with local employers, and helped develop the Injured Employee Management System with an electronic tracking and reporting system to help industry manage the work-injured patient.

Mr. Kuhns was honored with The President's Award for his service to the Florida Physical Therapy Association for his work on legislation issues such as direct access to patient care for physical therapists reimbursement and modification of the PT Practice Act in Florida.  Several years later, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and influence on the practice of physical therapy in Florida, Mr. Kuhns was chosen to receive the Fred Rutan Service Award by the Florida Physical Therapy Association, which is the most prestigious award given by this association.
