Application for Degree: Deadline xxxx
Degree candidates must file an Application for Degree (PDF) with the Office of the University Registrar by the deadline. Students must apply in the term in which they expect to graduate, regardless of applications in previous terms. All requirements for the degree must be completed as of the date of certification. Students who have completed all the requirements for their degree will be required to graduate.

Academic Regalia
All participants in the commencement ceremony wear academic regalia, which can be reserved from the University Bookstore. Contact the University of Florida Bookstore (392-0194) for a cap, gown and hood (advanced degrees). Doctoral candidates should bring their hoods with them to the ceremony.

All caps and gowns are black, and candidates for advanced degrees also wear hoods. Students receiving specialist and master’s degrees will receive their hoods when they pick up their regalia.

Bachelor of Health Science graduating with Honors:
For undergraduate students to graduate with honors (cum laude), the student must have a UF grade point average of 3.50 or above on all courses taken at the University after earning 60 credits.

Honors Theses due to advising offices: xxxx
To graduate magna or summa cum laude, students must have a 3.75 or 3.85 GPA, respectively. In addition, students must have successfully completed the College Honors Seminar course and an Honors Thesis, approved by the Dean's office and submitted to the UF Honor's Office by the appropriate deadline. Students seeking information about their honors status should consult Marcia McLeod through her email: mmcleod@phhp.ufl.edu. For information about purchasing honors cords, click on the UF Commencement link.

Graduating with Honors
Undergraduate degree candidates may purchase honors cords to recognize their graduation with honors. Three honors distinctions are available:

cum laude (with honors – $13.81)
magna cum laude (with high honors – $27.63)
summa cum laude (with highest honors – $41.44)

The cords, which are optional, can also be purchased at the University Bookstore. You can purchase cords only for the level of honors recommended by your college in March and provided to the bookstore. If your honors status changes to a higher level at final degree certification, you can return to the bookstore after Commencement (May 7) to purchase additional cords.

Please note: The honors designations listed in the commencement program are unofficial. Your official honors designation will be indicated on your transcript.

Each college/school/department has its own standards for graduating with honors. Please refer to the current catalog or contact your department for additional clarification.

Graduation Photos
Graduates participating in commencement will be photographed automatically. There is no fee nor any obligation to purchase. Free proofs will be mailed to you within 7–10 days of the ceremony. Orders and information are available from University Photography, Inc. at 1-800-982-1873.
