College Council
The College Council is the primary student organization in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida. The purpose of the Council is to promote an interdisciplinary approach to health services, enhance community awareness regarding the different professions within the College, and organize and participate in community service projects. Money raised by the Council supports charitable organizations consistent with the College of Public Health and Health Professions' mission, student education, and future Council projects. The Council works directly with a faculty advisor and Associate Dean of the College and represents students across the College.

Hope Lodge/Saint Francis House: The Council has a longstanding relationship with Hope Lodge/ Saint Francis House in which we prepare dinner for residents at various times throughout the year. If you would like to help out next time, please contact the council president.
Wheelchair Basketball Game: The Council is once again actively preparing for the annual Wheelchair Basketball Game. Last year, students from the physical therapy and occupational therapy departments at the University of Florida competed against the UF wheelchair basketball team to raise money for the Gator Sport camp held every summer. The Health Professions College Council donated nearly $900 to the summer camp for adults with disabilities, such as spinal cord injuries and upper and lower extremity amputations. Campers had the chance to develop new friendships while participating in activities. Campers receive instruction and participate in sports such as wheelchair basketball, tennis, and racing, swimming, weight training, and quad rugby. For more information on the camp, or for volunteer opportunities, contact Dr. Carolyn Hanson at 273-6023 or via email at Chanson@phhp.ufl.edu. If you would like to join the Council in planning this year's event, please contact one of the officers or attend the next Council meeting.
Health Professions and Nursing Career Day: Career Day is an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from different companies and health care organizations about employment opportunities. The Council will provide input into the event and keep students informed about the different activities scheduled.
