Financial Aid
The College of Public Health and Health Professions offers scholarships to eligible students. The scholarships typically range from $200 to $1,000. In addition, some loans are available through the college.
Who can apply for college financial aid?
- All graduate students in the college
- Undergraduate junior and senior students in the Bachelor of Health Science program
- Please note: Undergraduate freshmen and sophomore students are not eligible for college aid.

College Scholarships
General College Scholarships
Who is eligible: Graduate students and undergraduate juniors and seniors
Criteria: Financial need, academic excellence, community involvement, and
potential for achievement
Applications due: July 15 and November 1
To apply for General College Scholarships:
- Complete PHHP financial aid application form
- Include a copy of your FAFSA “Student Aid Report” (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
- Prepare a resume
- Write a letter of application describing your background and explaining how you meet the scholarship criteria
- Send all of the above to:

Judson Clements Memorial Scholarship
Who is eligible: Graduate students and undergraduate juniors and seniors
who have resided or worked in Duval County
Criteria: Strong community leadership
Applications due: March 15
To apply for Judson Clements Memorial Scholarship:
- Complete PHHP financial aid application form
- Include a copy of your FAFSA “Student Aid Report” (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
- Prepare a resume
- Write a letter of application describing your background and explaining how you meet the scholarship criteria—applicants must explain when they resided or worked in Duval County
- Send all of the above to:

Shands at UF Auxiliary Scholarship
Who is eligible: Graduate and undergraduate students who have completed
one semester of coursework in the College of Public Health and Health Professions,
and who will be enrolled full-time during the entire period in which the
scholarship funds are granted (fall and spring semesters of next academic
year).
Scholarship Criteria: financial need, average or better grades, strong faculty endorsement, strong commitment to the ideals and endeavors of his/her profession
Applications due: March 15
To apply for Shands at UF Auxiliary Scholarship:
- Complete PHHP financial aid application form
- Complete Shands at UF Auxiliary scholarship application form
- Prepare a resume
- Get a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (and have him or her sign the application form on the appropriate line)
- Write a letter of application describing your background and explaining how you meet the scholarship criteria
- Send all of the above to:

Dean’s Scholarship
Who is eligible: Only students nominated by their department or academic
program
Criteria: Academic excellence, leadership, and professional promise
Applications due: March 15
To apply for Dean’s Scholarships:

Shands Auxiliary Loan: emergency short-term loan for graduate and undergraduate students
Kellogg Loan: emergency short-term loan for graduate students in the Health Services Research, Management and Policy degree programs

Awards for international research includes all disciples at all levels before
PhD. Guidelines differ for each country so consult Fulbright handbook and
website.
Jeanne Moran Foundation: Jeanne Moran Foundation Letter
The Jeanne Moran Foundation provides a minimum of $1,000 per semester to
women pursuing secondary education in health professions with the intention
of practicing in the Central Florida area. Emphasis is given for students
serving in a primary care capacity. Click here to fill out an application.
Homeland Security Scholarship and Fellowship: www.orau.gov/dhsed/
U.S. Department of Homeland Security provides awards to students interested
in basic science and technology. Areas of study include: physical, biological,
social and behavioral sciences.
National Science Foundation Fellowships: www.nsf.gov/
NSF provides 3 years of support for graduate work leading to a research-based
masters or doctoral degree in the fields of science, math or engineering.
Intended for students in the early stages of study.
Soros New American Fellowship: www.psoros.org/
Up to 2 years of graduate study in the US. For students who are 1) resident
aliens, 2) naturalized US citizen or 3) the child of 2 parents who are naturalized
citizens.
Truman Scholarship Foundation: http://www.truman.gov/
For students at the junior level preparing for a career in government or
another area of public service. Students should be active in community service
and campus leadership.

Annual scholarship to recognize students with records of high levels of
academic achievement and leadership and service.
Charlotte Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship: www.woodrow.org/newcombe
Provides support for up to 12 months of full time dissertation writing for
students engaged in a significant study of ethical or religious values in
all areas of human endeavor.

A 2 year program for graduate students with an interest in a career in the
leadership and management of public policy and programs.

Given to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate a significant
commitment to area related to health.
Shands Auxiliary Scholarship

goals.
