Communication and Swallowing Science

This concentration area addresses the science of communication and swallowing. Students study anatomical, physiological and neurological bases of normal and abnormal communication and swallowing. The psychosocial aspects of communication and swallowing disorders are emphasized. Within this concentration area students study and address problems at each of the levels in the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health model. Students can focus their studies on communication and swallowing problems in children and adults.
